Michaela Myer, an Overhills high school student, hosted a Woman Empowerment Walk at the OHS football field May 14. When the walkers arrived, they wrote an insecurity on a name tag and wore it in addition to a red string tied around their finger. The walk started at 10:30 a.m. and three laps were completed while holding a red banner with "Woman's Walk of Empowerment" printed on it. As the walk proceeded, music was playing. After the walk, a group of OHS students sang "I'm Only Human", "Born This Way", "Haven't Met You Yet" and "Shut Up And Dance". They rocked it!
The performers wore red shirts with printing that said "hello beautiful". Myer states that the reason the shirts were red is because red is the symbol of beauty and confidence. The goal of the Woman Empowerment Walk was to ensure women that they are beautiful without makeup. Myer believes all women are naturally beautiful!
