Every year, Thanksgiving week is known for more than giving thanks, it's about completing your Christmas shopping as quickly and cheaply as possible. Unfortunately, most people aren't aware that they are not getting the best deals. "They don't put everything on sale Black Friday and those prices aren't always the lowest of the year," said Mark LaCastro, a public relations manager at Deal News. Most doorbuster deals are limited to only a few per store. This also means that to get any of the deals, you must arrive very early. It would be in your best interest to map out the store as well because each of the deals are spread throughout the store, not always in the correct sections. Electronics could be placed in the food department. But if you don't want to deal with all the craziness you can stay home and shop online. Some online stores even have deals not provided in stores. No matter which option you choose, always have a plan for what you are looking for.
-Brianna Boahn The week before Thanksgiving took a turn for the worse when an Arctic storm set in, bringing below average temperatures to the United States as a whole. Tuesday and Wednesday held record-low temperatures in most states. Some were decade-old, but even century-old records were beat. Northern states, such as New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin, were hit with severe snow storms that resulted in more than six feet of snow build-up in each area. The severe temperature conditions led to many travel bans and states of emergency in northern of the U.S. As the weekend drew closer, the temperatures steadily rose up into the sixties, providing great relief from the cold.

I asked many students here at Overhills what they thought made a good teacher and here are some of there top choices. The most frequent one said was that a good teacher is someone who knows their students and helps them find all the abilities they have. Other opinions were said such as a good teacher is able to make things interesting, has the determination to help students, gives a variety of work and has a great sense of humor.
-Noelle Stratton Winter has come early and that winter wonderland people have dreamed about has become a nightmare. Many states have reached below freezing and some New England states have gotten a large amount of snow. One of the places affected by snowfall was Buffalo, NY with six feet of snow. New York State Electric and Gas Corp. reported that about 450 customers didn't have electricity. A travel ban has been in effect in communities in Erie County. This is only the start of the snowfall as more is expected in the coming days.

-Katelyn Goodell A beautiful, yet destructive scene was seen in Eastern Virginia on Oct. 28. NASA and the Orbital Sciences Corporation were planning on sending an Antares rocket full of cargo to the International Space Station. The launch was scheduled for 6:22 that night at the Wallops Flight Facility. About six seconds later, an explosion was heard followed by what looked like a fireball according to observers. The rocket went into self- destruct mode after a malfunction was detected, sending $200 million in cargo and experiments up in flames. An investigation is underway to find what the failure in the rocket was.
