Afeni Shakur Davis - mother of Tupac Shakur, one of hip-hops iconic figures - died Monday, May 2. The police responded to a family member's call of a "possible cardiac arrest" at her home at about 9:34 p.m. Shakur was taken to the Marin General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m. "There was nothing suspicious about her death and no evidence of foul play," Lt. Doug stated. An autopsy was scheduled for later that day.
Shakur was a well-loved and respected member within the community. Her background not only resides in the community but her extensive involvement with other activities. She was a person of wisdom, love, and strength. Her commitments were to her family and building a more peaceful world for future generations.
