Debating is a successful way of bringing out peoples public speaking credibility and helping boost their self-confidence. It helps you learn how to take a stand on controversial issues, and what better way than to start in high school. When in high school, questions come up about cellphone policy, dress code and P.D.A. I would say those are the most arguable topics that teens have a problem with today. Some schools have uniforms and some don’t, some allow cellphones-just not during class-and some ban them, and as we know a majority of the schools allow no public display of affection. Could this be our results on our Teen Debating and public speaking?
Little do we know as high school teens, our actions are as well counted for our ways of speaking out. We are provided with options to speak on why or why not certain things should be allowed in school, with following reasons as well. So when we as teens are given what we have asked for ( to a reasonable extent) we should try to keep those rights , but when we turn around and push things over the limit, we show that what we asked for we weren’t responsible enough to have.
This why high school is a good place to learn the ways of debating. It allows you to practice speaking for what you believe and gives you speaking credibility.
