One of the last Republican candidates, Ted Cruz, has dropped out of the race for nomination. He only had 564 delegates and was trailing behind front runner Donald Trump who had 1147 at the time. This clears a path for Trump to win the nomination, since Cruz was the closet candidate to him. This decision comes almost immediately after his loss in Indiana to Trump.
The third candidate in the final three, John Kasich, also dropped out following Indiana's primary. He only had 160 delegates and nobody was sure why he was still in the race. He was trailing behind both Trump and Cruz by a large margin. With everyone else gone Trump now stands as the projected winner of the Republican party.
