April is the month of the military child. This awareness month was established to show the important role children play in the Armed forces community. There are approximately 2 million military children, from the ages of newborn to 18 years old; 1.3 million of those children, school-aged. Military children sustain our fighting force, and strengthens the heath of our soldiers, in the community as well as all around the world. Children are often faced with stress when a family member or someone closest to them are away.
With that, month of the military child was born. Giving children of all ages a chance to connect, including Overhills High School who involved them in activities such as an essay contest, so that they could express feelings and thoughts on the matter. Military children are under appreciated, with this awareness we hope to encourage, empower and educate schools to get the push those students truly need.
