May 25 is Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, and is a day to remember and honor those that have died in service. Memorial Day is now recognized on the last Monday in May with passage of the National Holiday Act of 1971.
While many treat Memorial Day as an excuse to get out of work or school to party, it is a time of remembrance for those who have given their lives for us. Please think about that while you are enjoying yourself at your neighbor's annual barbecue.
