Many may wonder what Key Club is. Well look no further! Recently, I sat down with the school’s Key Club president, Jasmine Svears. I asked her basic questions about the club: who can join, how long is it, etc. It turns out Key Club is a community service organization for high schoolers. It was established in Sacremento, California in 1925.
I asked who could join Key Club, to which Svears replied, “Anybody and everybody.” It turns out there is no certain amount of students that can join Key Club. They will accept as many people as they can get. The Key Club does stuff outside of school all the time, like volunteering for local things. The club itself does not center on a certain amount of skills, and it can help students with community service hours for college. Svears told me that Key club is very essential to everyday lives, because you are giving back to the community. Key Club runs 2;30 to 4;30 every Wednesday in Ms.Overton’s room C216.
