Finding ways to improve our environment may seem difficult or uninteresting to students of our generation. However having a clean and healthy environment is important to our future. With this being said; here are some things that students can do to help the environment!
One of the routines that most students complete before leaving for school, is brushing their teeth. When you start your teeth try cutting off the water. According to the University of Illinois, shutting off the tap instead of letting it run will save your family up to 10 gallons daily! Another way to improve the environment is to stop buying bottled water. Buying bottled water wastes money and the plastic bottles that end up being thrown away will sit in landfills for around 500 or more years before they begin to disintegrate.
Plastic isn't the only thing that takes a while to decompose, another material is paper. The high number of paper used in the modern world quickly fills landfills. Recycling paper helps our landfills. A way to recycle paper is to use scrap paper thoroughly before throwing it away. A more common way would be using both sides of a piece of paper when writing. This restricts the use of paper, which saves money, and trees. An additional way to help improve the environment would be going to sleep earlier. Students may stay up later trying to finish work, which believe it or not isn't good to the planet. Staying up later means the extended use of energy from your light sources, electronics, even the air conditioner. Developing these skills will help our future become way brighter.
