Burger King is an American chain of fast food restaurants, first founded in Jacksonville, Florida by James McLamore and David Edgerton. Burger King started the Burger King Scholars program, AKA the McLamore Foundation in 2005. The Burger King Scholars program was named after one of the now dead co-founders to the honor him. James McLamore believed the importance of supporting the advancement of education.
The Burger King Scholars Program assists employees, spouses of employees, domestic partners, employees' children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education. The program had awarded more than $25.3 million in scholarships and the program continues to grow. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin. The scholarships deadline is early Jan.
